This week we have been settling in to our new routines and getting to know our new classmates. Towards the end of the week, the behaviour wasn´t as fantastic as the week before which was really upsetting! I hope this turns around quickly and we can get back to doing fun activities to help us learn.
Both classes completed their first piece of assessed writing which was to write a set of instructions. They have shown some great handwriting and most have remembered some of the features we have discussed in class. Well done! Their baseline maths exam also happened this week to show what they have remembered over the summer, and what needs more work on during the year.
We have looked at map work a lot this week as part of Geography, History and Religious Education. It was quite tricky at first, but they have managed to gain their speed in finding countries and having an understanding of where in the world particular countries are.
We have now completed all of our KWL grids which have outlined prior knowledge in each subject, and questions they would like to find out. This term we have kicked off with Rainforests, Ancient Egypt, Living Things and their Habitats and Hinduism. If you have any information on any of these topics, please encourage your child to talk about this with the class or bring anything in.
Reading books have been given out so please encourage your child to read every day, and to inform me when they have finished so I can change the book as quickly as possible. Take a look at some pictures of the children who brought in the food they had made whilst completing their recipe homework. Some really yummy creations!
Love Miss Tammy ☺
