Well it has been a very busy few weeks for Year 1 and Year 2. We have had many activities and learned a great deal.
Year 2 have been discovering how to use different techniques to express their ideas. The children have created their own versions of a dragon story, incorporating all of the knowledge they have gained from studying the different styles of tales. We have looked at George and the Dragon, The Paper Bag Princess and George and the Dragon Machine. Each of these stories has a different concept and twist. The children have created a dramatic version of their story and had a lot of fun.
Year 1 have also had a great couple of weeks in literacy. They have been investigating traditional tales and looked at stories from many different countries and also with various different styles. They also have begun to try and create a piece of drama work and that is on -going.
Both year groups have been investigating weights and measures and had a fantastic time making pancakes. This gave them the chance to put their knowledge into practice (and also a chance to enjoy some yummy pancakes).
Both year groups have been studying design technology and were given the challenge of designing and making a toy for our beloved class pet Cobey. This was very successful and the children had the chance Friday to test their creations. Well done children! I think it is safe to say that little Cobey was the happiest gerbil in the world.
Well done year 1 and year 2.
