Richmond Raises Money for the Environment with Richmond’s Got Talent Day

Don’t forget, the school is having a great opportunity to spend a family day on 21 March, with the Richmond’s Got Talent show. Children have the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities and strut their stuff, singing, dancing, playing an instrument, telling stories or reading poetry.

This is ‘Environment Week’ at Richmond, and each year group will be learning about the habitats, behaviors, geographic range, and a whole lot else about the particular endangered species their class has decided to “adopt.” (See list below.)

In collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) the school is organizing a market and all proceeds will go to a species in danger of extinction. Similar to the Christmas party, booths will be set up with crafts, cakes, and other items in order to raise funds for endangered species.

Also as part of our special ‘Environment Week,’ which starts today, Monday March 17, there is a drawing contest. Students are encouraged to draw an endangered species which interests or touches them personally, with prizes to be awarded to two worthy entries. Drawings must be submitted by Wednesday, March 19.

 “Adopted” species:
Nursery: Lion
Reception: Polar Bear
Year 1: Elephant
Year 2: Leopard
Year 3: Panda
Year 4: Mountain Gorilla
Year 5: Penguin
Year 6: Dolphin
Year 7: Rhinoceros
Year 8: Sea turtle
In addition there will also be many surprises, 1st and 2nd group and individual award certificates, and a drawing for all students, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
Of course the entire Richmond family is invited to participate, and you are welcome to bring family and friends as well. Can’t wait to see you there!
