Homework for November 24 – 28

Have a look at the homework for this week, and if you have any questions please get in touch with the classroom teacher. Have fun, kids!

Year 1

For homework this week I would like the children to complete the following tasks:

Numeracy: Number Machines. This week we have been reviewing addition. The children must complete the worksheet adding the numbers and writing the answers in the correct boxes. We have also been practicing counting up to 100 and back down to 0. The children were very excited at being able to count so high!  Please practice with them at home.

Literacy and Topic: Finding Animals and Worms! This week in Literacy we have been looking at poems all about worms! The children have learnt a song called ‘Herman the Worm’ and they are also able to recite a poem called ‘Nobody Likes Me!’

This week I would like the children to go outside in search of worms!  They must find worms, look at them carefully and draw them.  Then I would like them to measure the worms and record their findings on the worksheet provided.

 Year 2

Literacy: We have been looking at non-fiction books and about the different features they have. We have realized that the index page and the glossary are normally in alphabetical order. The children need to complete the sheet on alphabetical order and capital letters.

Numeracy: We have looked at finding the difference and time. The children need to time themselves and another member of the family how long it takes to do certain activities and complete the sheet.

Again there are spellings in their books to learn for Thursday. Please also try to take 10 minutes to read with your child every day. Thanks!

Year 3

Literacy: This week we have been looking at different types of poems and we tried to add new verses. The children have been given a poem called ‘Inside My Head’. They have to add capital letters in the correct places and then write a new verse for the poem. Please keep practising the spellings and read every day.

Numeracy: We have been working hard with adding and subtracting 1, 10 and 100. They have a sheet to revise what they have done this week.
Geography: We have been doing lots of map work and used atlases to find out the names of the countries in Europe. The children have to find out the names of the capital cities (in English!) of some of the countries.
Year 4

English: Spelling: Learn spelling words on p.24 and do exercises p.25 on the provided paper. Test on Wednesday. Punctuation: Do the exercises on question marks and exclamation marks on p. 20.

Maths: Complete Maths on Divisions.

Topic: Choose an African country and make a poster with the following information: traditional food, clothes, celebrations and traditions, famous places, famous people. Come prepared to tell the class!

Notices for Parents

This homework is for Friday 28th of November. Please remember to read and sign the diaries. Also, please check the homework sheet thoroughly. Homework is extremely clear and can also be found on the school blog every week. Not knowing about the homework is NOT an excuse!

Thank you! Muchas gracias!

Mr. Alzuria

 Year 5

Literacy: In this cross-curricular writing task the children need to write their own Viking adventure. Using what they have learnt about Viking attacks on villages and monasteries in England they can create their own story as an eye witness.

The children also have their spelling lists and reading books.

Numeracy: With an emphasis on thinking and problem solving skills this week the children have some ‘time problems’ to solve.

Science: With thinking in mind for Science on Tuesday, the children need to have an idea about a mechanical device that uses force and movement in some way that they can create from everyday material.

Another thought…. How can we create our Christmas market stall with an Italian theme?

Year 6

Think of ideas for newspaper reports for the Year 6 newspaper

 Year 7

Research Japan

 Year 8
